Well, I think I have decided what to do. I believe I will offer three different versions of the unit.
Version A) $395.00
The original version with a standard projection bulb, standard gate, and a small projection screen (8.5x11). These would be used only for "temp transfers" or by people that don't understand or want to mess with the alignment issues inherent in using a condenser lens. These units would run at 6fps and would need to be pre-set by me for either FireWire or Analog capture.
Version B) $595.00
The updated version with the cooler and cheaper bulb, widened gate and condenser lens assembly for doing final transfers. These units would also run at 6fps but would need to be pre-set by me for either FireWire or Analog capture.
version C) $849.00
The same version I built for Matt Pacini, which runs super slow at 1 frame per second for transfers to video (readily compatible with either FireWire or Analog) or in the single frame advance mode for use with digital cameras, 16mm cameras for blow ups or other high end capture devices that require longer processing times per frame. These units would come with a remote control and remote trigger capability as well as a condenser lens assembly.
Still have to settle on a name, though. I'l be posting pics of Matt's unit soon.

If you're at a San Francisco Flicker, you could walk up to someone and say,"Hey, is that a Mr. Pull-Me-Down or are you just happy to see me?" THAT would get you a lot of friends.

Well, since it moves film one frame at a time, perhaps "Skank-A-Mation" or maybe even "Digi-Skank" or perhaps, "8mm ProSkank".
Hmmmmm.....
Seriously, anyone else got some ideas?

I don't know why you would consider anything else.

Actually Roger, you might want to consider coming up with a brand name that you could register as a trademark (something really catchy, like "NIZO" or "Canon" or "Acme"), and then just give the different units product numbers (i.e. "WP-808",
"WP-808 mkII"), especially if you are going to make different versions... works for SONY...

I am still recovering from the shock of a comment made yesterday by a left wing, new age hippy, environmentalist who told me that he thought, "super 8 film was that old polluting film used in the Kodak Disk Camera"! ( For those who don't know, the Disk Camera was introduced by Kodak in the 1980's and was a flop)
Anyway......
Here are a couple of suggestions for Roger:
Introducing the new "Stuffomatic Film Transfer System" also known as "The CineM8" or "The ScanM8" or "The TransferM8".
Dominic.

Roger,
Some serious ideas!
(well, fairly)
Cine-8-Matic
Cine-Matic
Cine-8-Mate
8-Mate
And where the hell did this "SKANK" idea come from?
Also, Roger may want to come up with a brandname like a few of you have suggested but i think he was meaning ideas for a name for the Model of the product
